Eilyssa MacLean was born in California in January 2002 to a German mother and an American father. She inherited her love of classical music from her father, and even as a small child she loved to sing passionately—and loudly.
When her father died after a serious illness, 11-year-old Eilyssa found comfort and support in music. It was her connection to her father, the last way she could be close to him. She could still make him proud. Her carefree singing turned into serious study—she found the expression and direction that still characterizes her singing today.
Eilyssa worked on herself, developing the extraordinary carrying power, volume, and resonant high notes that continue to inspire audiences with her voice.

She is also employed by the Extrachor of the Theatre Bonn (Opera Bonn).
